Open Discussion & Share

Topics: Our Shared Passion

April 20, 2017 Members are invited to share a link, a photo or a book about a little known or unknown photographer. Someone you think the group should know.

There will also be a discussion on a photo theme for the May meeting. Remember to bring your own photos to share.

Happy Spring!

March 16, 2017 This month each member is asked to come with one discussion question. The question could relate to a technical problem you are having or you could ask for input on one of your images. It's open to any question you may have.

Have a question about composition? Gallery 7 is currently hosting a major Midwest exhibit. Some of the exhibit images will be used as a springboard to a discussion on what makes a good composition. It should be an insightful discussion.

Come to the meeting for some good photography related discussion and get inspired by some very impressive art.

Bring your latest images to share. Bring what inspires and motivates you. A book, a journal, a blog or a website. Share what interests you, join the discussion and let's learn from each other.

November 20, 2014 PAS is very pleased to have Barbara Eberhard present a demonstration of Gum Bichromate printing. Barbara has chosen to work in an alternative process of photography that dates back to the 1880's, the pictorialist era of photography. Gum Bichromate prints could be called "photographically controlled watercolors." Even though the image may resemble a color photograph, it is a fabrication of layers of pigment and hardened gum. It is in some ways closer to painting than photography. Barbara finds it a very meditative, hands-on process, manipulating and "creating" an image rather than simply recording it. Be sure to join PAS for a very interesting presentation.

September 18, 2014 PAS is very pleased to have Steve Zasadny and Chris Foley share a few common sense approaches to their work flow using your images. Steve will demonstrate Photoshop and Chris will demonstrate Lightroom. Both programs are extensive and can be complex. They are also excellent for bringing the greatest potential out of your images. Bring in a thumb drive with one or two raw files and Steve and Chris will demonstrate their general workflow using your files. Steve will demonstrate ways to achieve your vision with a few possible enhancements and answer your questions from your wish list using Photoshop. Chris will show an alternative method achieving the same goal using Lightroom. If possible, send your images as a large .jpg and questions on any specific problem or your vision of what you would like to see in advance. This will expedite the the process. Of course, you can bring your raw images to the meeting, too. Send your questions and images to: szasadny@sbcglobal.net for Photoshop, chrisfoley2@aol.com for Lightroom.
